¨ The main objective of this project is to develop new formulas for edible packaging for use on fruits and vegetables.

 

To accomplish this, the following tasks are planned:

 

Þ Research and characterization of model films of biopolymers.

Þ Development of image analysing system

Þ Obtaining and characterization of edible packages of biopolymer materials for improving the quality and increasing the shelf life of fruits and vegetables.

Þ Application of non-destructive and destructive methods for characterizing the parameters of fruits and vegetables during storage (including after being wrapped in an edible film).

Þ Instrumental monitoring of processes for preserving the biological value of fruits and vegetables.

Þ Investigation of the shelf life of fruits with and without edible packages.
